During the walk, guests explore the ecosystem of Italy’s oldest lake, moving through reed beds, wetlands, and protected areas that are home to numerous species of migratory birds and local wildlife.

At the end of the guided tour, visitors are welcome to remain inside the reserve until closing time, continuing to observe the flora and fauna or simply enjoying moments of complete relaxation immersed in the silence of nature.

Abbazia di Montelabate – A Journey into the Middle Ages

Set between the territories of Perugia and Gubbio, surrounded by rolling hills covered with olive groves, stands the ancient Monastery of Santa Maria di Valdiponte in Corbiniano, today known as the Abbey of Montelabate. This impressive Benedictine complex, dating back to the second half of the 10th century, is one of the most fascinating historical landmarks in the area. Since 1959, the abbey has been owned by Senator Gaslini and is currently managed by the Fondazione Gaslini of Genoa.

Visits are available by reservation, with a minimum number of participants, and offer the opportunity to explore not only the abbey’s historic interiors but also the olive mill and the lands of the Fondi Rustici Montelabate agricultural estate, renowned for producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil. An ideal experience for lovers of history, agriculture, and the most authentic places of Umbria.

Tevere River Greenway

Close to the property lies the Percorso Verde del Tevere, a scenic route that runs alongside the river within the river park, immersed in the silence and lush greenery of the riparian landscape. It is an ideal setting for relaxing walks, light jogging, or mountain biking, allowing everyone to choose a pace that best suits their outdoor style.

The trail is mostly flat and easy to follow, with sections of gravel and packed earth—features that make it suitable for families, less experienced walkers, and nature lovers. A bit of extra care is recommended after rain or when the ground is wet. The riverside environment offers charming views, small bridges, shaded areas, and opportunities to observe local wildlife, making every outing a pleasant and restorative experience.
